After spending a lot of hours haunting pottery sites, blogs and Pinterest and seeing all the wonderful painting that others apply to their pots, I have decided to try to see what I can coax out of my brushes.  These are all green ware with underglaze. I did some carving on the three on the left.

At least if I don't like the result, I haven't wasted time and money firing them!

I have joined a group of painters for once a month get togethers so maybe I will absorb some ability to wield a brush from them.

Latest work. These were good sellers. Must make more!

Noodle bowls - drying

This is how I remember what I used!

Turned out nice, a bit dark perhaps.

Seniors Project

These are the little trays my seniors group made a few weeks ago.  I am excited to take them in today and show them the finished product.  They really enjoy the process.  We have quite an "owl" theme going on these days.

Gone to the birds!

I finally glazed and fired some of the birdhouses. I am trying some new (to me) Potter's Choice glazes and am very happy with the results.  I also used some underglazes ( cone 06) and covered with cone 6 clear with good results.  The little owl statues are all done with underglaze then clear over top.

trying another direction

One thing about haunting pottery sites on the internet is that one  finds so many ideas to try out.  I have always thought carving would be a fun thing to try, but I am not very artistic, so have to figure out how I can get a nice end result with very little talent!  The obvious answer is to copy others!  I do hope those whom I strive to emulate will consider it a compliment as I only try to copy the very best!

To give credit to the original rabbit artist go to Ron Philbeck 1 and see his wonderful pottery.

Works in progress

I am currently working on new birdhouse designs.  Now I have to decide if I should clear coat or try some new glazes I just purchased.  So many options...........should I go "funky" or stay "earthy"?
